SWCAP’s Skills Enhancement program has helped community members for many years by supporting people who wanted to gain new skills, certifications, or education to pursue better paying and more stable jobs. Through this program, hundreds of individuals were able to work toward long-term employment goals and create new opportunities for themselves and their families.
Unfortunately, over the past several years, funding for workforce development programs has continued to decline at both the federal and state levels. As resources have become more limited, programs like Skills Enhancement have faced ongoing reductions and funding challenges.
Because of these funding changes, SWCAP will close the Skills Enhancement program effective June 30, 2026.
We understand this news will be disappointing, especially for the individuals and families who have benefited from the program and for those who may have hoped to participate in the future. While the need for education, training, and workforce support remains very real in our communities, we do not currently see a sustainable funding source that would allow the program to continue.
We are grateful for the many years of service and dedication provided by Kelly Hohneke and appreciate the positive impact this program has had across our communities.
