Head Start & Early Head Start

SWCAP Head Start, in collaboration with community service agencies, provides expectant parents and families with children ages birth through five, opportunities for:

  • child development education

  • health and nutrition services

  • parent and program partnerships

  • family support, resource and referral

in an effort to promote school readiness, positive parent-child interactions, self-sufficiency, and healthy lifestyles.

Head Start Eligibility:

  • Families living in Grant, Iowa, Lafayette and Richland Counties meeting federal poverty income levels of 100% or below. Some waivers of income requirements may be granted on a limited basis.

  • Children must be 3 years old by September 1 of the current year.

  • Head Start actively recruits families with special needs and disabilities.

Early Head Start Eligibility:

  • Families living in Grant, Iowa, Lafayette and Richland meeting federal poverty income levels of 100% or below. Some waivers of income requirements may be granted on a limited basis.

  • Families must be expecting or have a child between 0-3 years of age.

  • Head Start actively recruits families with special needs and disabilities.
