Weatherization

The goal of SWCAP’s Weatherization Assistance services is to help southwestern Wisconsin homeowners, landlords, and renters to reduce home heating bills, save energy and make your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

SWCAP Weatherization Assistance is for those with high heating and electricity costs.

People in southwestern Wisconsin that have signed-up for the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) are referred to SWCAP’s Weatherization Assistance Program.  SWCAP then prioritizes and works with those households to determine what energy-saving steps can be taken and then install the improvements at no cost to the resident.

Priority is given to:

  • Households with excessive energy costs

  • Senior citizens

  • People with disabilities

  • Households with children under age 6

The home energy improvements installed at your home depend on the condition of your home.  Home energy improvements may include things such as:

  • Insulate attics

  • Insulate walls and floors

  • Replace water heaters

  • Install energy-efficient light bulbs

  • Seal-up air leaks

  • Repair or replace furnaces

  • Replace refrigerators and freezers

If your home received SWCAP’s Weatherization Assistance in the past, your home may not be eligible for a period of time.

If you are eligible for the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP), you are also income-eligible for Weatherization Assistance.
IMPORTANT: Scheduling and priority of projects are determined by the SWCAP’s Weatherization Assistance Program.

SWCAP Weatherization Assistance serves the Wisconsin Counties of:

  • Grant

  • Iowa
